Lynus soon moved beyond any attempts of realistic representation and created the Broken series. Mirrors shattered, and so is the human facade; this series of canvases are trophies of colours' triumphant conquer, each a kaleidoscopic blast as if the mirror within was smashed by blazing shrapnel, best illustrated by Self-Reflection.

The diptych presents two sides of the same deconstructed face suspended in space, not dissimilar to Zaha Hadid's paintings of utopian floating worlds inspired by the early Russian avant-garde Kazimir Malevich. Every stroke of paint is an endeavour to reassemble the chromatic fragments of a facial landscape but eventually evolves into a mental architecture.

Lynus described the laboriously repetitive yet therapeutic process of layering and removing paint and scotch tapes to create the chromatic bliss of interlacing threads of thoughts. He claimed that the compositions are purely intuitive and that every colour application was by chance. Likened to a faithful pilgrim, the painter submitted himself to the guidance of colours to lead his brush through the canvases, rendering the creative journey a meditative rejuvenation.
